Fort Stanwix Treaty, orchestrated by Sir William Johnson, creates a western boundary of the colonies from Ft. Stanwix south along the Unadilla River (now western boundary of Otsego County), opening up additional lands for settlement. North of the Susquehanna River the area is called the “Old England District.” which includes that of the ancient Iroquois valley known as “The Butter Nutts.”
