Colonial and Native relationships strained over land issues
Many purchasers never pay for their lands creating enormous stress in Indian and Colonial relationships. Boundary disagreements and struggles lead to break down of relations. Raids escalate through an area described as ranging from “…Saratoga north of Johnstown, and west to the German Flatts, …south stretching down to Unadilla and Onaquaga eastwardly crossing the Susquehanna, along the Charlotte river to Harpersfield…..and back to Albany England District with the Butternuts."
