Generals Schuyler, Ten Broeck & Colonel Varick marched a military force of 1000 to Johnstown where they met with Gen. Herkimer and 900 militia for the purpose of arresting John Johnson. They disarmed the tenants and Johson was released on parole. The following May, Johnson with 170 tenants and friends left Johnson Hall for St. Regis on the St. Lawrence.
