Old Fort Johnson is the 1749 Baronial home of Sir William Johnson (1715-1774) the first Baronet of New York and the Superintendent of Indian Affairs for the Northern British colonies. Fort Johnson was an important military post and Indian council site from 1754 to 1763. Today the Old Fort is a house museum that tells the story of the Mohawk Valley. There are fine exhibits which showcase a collection of 18th and 19th Century furniture, Johnson family artifacts and archaeological finds.
